Nursery Project II inaugurated

Thanks to the kindness of our generous sponsors, J.A.C.K. has developped since 2012 the building of 3 additional night rooms for the nursery group.

3 years later, Nursery Project II isn’t totaly finished but the chimpanzee orphans have already been able to enjoy their new night quarters.

In 2015, sponsorship helped us do all the plumbing work, build huges nests, add some stairs to walk accross the tunnel and to open the tunnel. Also, a huge concrete slab has been set in front of the night quarters to drain water (rain, cleaning water).

These developments were necessary: the orphans of the nursery group are getting bigger, stronger and need more space! Also, these new night facilities keep the very youngest babies safe from the wind, the cold and the rain ….

Still more developments are needed to complete the Nursery project II as J.A.C.K. now must focus on the open air playground: fix electrical fences, put solar pannels & batteries, add 2 more jungle gyms….

Constructions of 2015 have been done  thanks to the trust and the support of our great donors only: FONDATION BRIGITTE BARDOT,  the SWEDEN CHIMPANZEE TRUSTIPPL, , the ZOO of la PALMYRE and  . Again we at J.A.C.K. are grateful for their precious help as without their generosity, J.A.C.K. can’t give these orphans the difference!

Thank YOU all for THEM !

np merci

De tout coeur, pour EUX,MERCI !

Thank you, dear Adopters

Yes, today, JACK would like to say a special ‘THANK YOU’ to all the Friends who are part of the adoption program.

Our sanctuary looks after 39 chimpanzees aged between 3 and 13 years old, which represents a lot of work but also high costs! To cover food, veterinary supplies, wages of our 8 workers + different taxes, we need about $ 2,000/month. You can now imagine how tough and hard it is for an NGO to collect such amount every month and how precious donations are!!

Therefore, adopters’ support is also crucial to the well being of the orphans and there is no word to express our gratitude as, thanks to the adopter’s Love and Interest, we can provide these rescued chimp orphans with the best care!

Dear Adopters, thank YOU all so much for your support! Your adoptions represent a lot to THEM and we hope you will be able to help your adopted chimpanzee friend(s) again in 2016!

Thank YOU for THEM!

thank you GF & GM

Thank you, dear Members, Partners & Donors

NGO’s like JACK can’t live without support. Donations, sponsorships and memberships are essential to the development of the sanctuary and Franck & I are extremely grateful to all of YOU who have been part of our fight in 2015!

Your trust has indeed allowed us to improve our complex and to provide the orphans with better living conditions. Security has now been enforced and it is obvious we wouldn’t have been able to achieve all these great things without YOU!

Thank YOU ALL so much for caring about JACK. We really hope YOU will still agree to be part of our action in 2016!

merci sponsors

updates on our Christmas fundraising

Remember, early December last year, we launched a fundraising appeal to collect money for a Jungle Gym for the chimp teenagers group of JACK.

thank you playground

Today, we can say that the total amount ($5,524) to build this huge play tower for Chita and his friends has been collected since JACK fundraised along with its French charity  “Les Amis de JACK”  during the latest Festive Season.

YES! JACK is extremely happy this project will come true! The Jungle Gym is a high play tower which will not only provide enrichment to the teenagers group but it will also protect them  from the harshness of the climate (blazing sun, heavy rains) by offering the chimpanzees some shade and shelter . The sanctuary intends to start the constructions very soon and will, of course, share pictures and updates.

Again JACK and “Les Amis de JACK” would like to thank the different Friends who have given all their trust as well as their precious financial support to make this dream come true. Remember, JACK lives on donations only and relies on the generosity of its Friends to provide its boarders with the best care!

Many, many thanks to:

  • Carole V.  who launched the fundraising event in France together with our Charity “Les Amis de JACK”;
  • the Sweden Chimpanzee Trust and its Board members who decided they would be part of this Christmas event for the chimps!
  • our great Donors whose aid was crucial : (in alpabetical order) Alexandra G, Amy M, Andrew & Candy G, Carine LT, Catherine H, Corinna MS, David S, Eva C, Francesca B, Geneviève H, Harry H,  Jean-Charles D, Julie B, Karim M,  Louise Q, Lyna R, Marc H, Mireille F,  Oliver T, Sébastien M, Suzanne M,  Valérie L, Valérie S, Véronique T, et Wanda H.
  • one of our adopters who has been following JACK sanctuary for so many years: Marie-Odile L. Her love for her adopted friend MAYA has no limits and Maire-Odile therefore decided she would help the sanctuary finalize this playground project!
  • our wonderful Friends from all over the world who organized/participated to events  to support JACK:

=> Lucette P (France)  who participated to 2 different Christmas events jointly  organised by shop managers Mr & Mrs Kahn from MEDOR & Co

=> Patti C  and her sister Gail (USA) who attended 2 different Christmas crafts  fairs and sold their handmade necklaces.  Usually assisted by Gail,  Patti has been supporting our sanctuary for years now and her gorgeous necklaces have a great success and do help our chimps too!

=> Joanne P (Australia) who created a fundraising event in her country to help Chita & his mates get the Jungle Gym.

The building of the play tower should not last more than 10 days and we of course will keep you updated !

Dear Donors, without your precious support JACK wouldn’t be able to give its orphans the best!

So, thank YOU again and again for THEM!

When posting a picture of our sick pawpaws several weeks ago, some friends came back to us and others even contacted qualified people to determine what is actually wrong with our trees at J.A.C.K.

All have had the same reply: misshaped pawpaws result from a lack of boron! Tania F, a good friend of us living in Australia, even managed to send us some of that magic powder to help our trees 🙂 !

Papa Mbondo, the man in charge of our green garden, has started giving some boron to our sick pawpaw trees and we are sure they will all look better soon!

Many thanks again to all her friends who have helped us and thank you so much, Tania, for having sent J.A.C.K. this magic powder!

We will keep you updated 🙂

9 years!

Yes, dear Friends, it’s been 9 years today since we rescued the first chimp ever confiscated by DRC officials in Southern DRC. Nine years of good times but also of bad times and we thank you, our Friends, sponsors & donors, for having been around during all these years. You have been helping us financially, but you have also given us moral support – which is worth gold!

Thank you all, dear Friends, sponsors & donors, for your Love, Trust and Friendship!
