The month of April is very particular to Franck and myself : it was on the 6th of April 2006 that we first met JAK, a dying baby chimpanzee for sale on the streets of Lubumbashi…
JAK is the first chimpanzee ever confiscated in the Southern DRC province of Katanga.
When meeting him we didn’t know he was going to be assassinated by saboteurs willing to stop us.
Nor did we expect the J.A.C.K. project would take huge steps forward shortly after the sabotage…
But one thing is sure, JAK has become a symbol for the Conservation and the Protection of his own kind as thanks to him, the lives of other chimpanzees have been and are being saved.

Roxane — Congratulations on what must be a bitter sweet anniversary. But thank God for you and Franck for persevering and giving these precious animals both a home and a lot of love. I have a picture in my office of Jak and Touzo wrestling…such lovely babies whose time was cut far too short.

Hi Roxanne, I’m still learning about your organization but it’s evident that you’ve done so much in such a short time. It is so tragic that it takes stories such as Jak’s to bring the great apes’ plight to the public’s attention. You and Franck are extraordinary people and I support you all the way!

Poor little Jak and Touzo. They are at peace now. You and Franck have accomplished so much. Thank God the saboteurs didn’t win. Their day will come to answer for the babies’ deaths. I hope they rot in hell! I am so grateful for JACK and all the love and care you give these sweet orphans.

c’est un bien triste anniversaire, mais la disparition de ces deux petits etres innocents aura servi à mettre votre travail en pleine lumière et quel chemein parcouru en si peu de temps.
Mais tous , n’oubliez pas que le chemin est encore trés long pour que le monde prenne conscience que la protection des primates est essentielle, ils ont encore tant de choses à nous apprendre.
