Busy, busy, busy…

Category: Chimpanzee, Congo, DRC, J.A.C.K. | Date: Oct 16 2008 | By: jack

Friends of Jack,

We’re still very , very busy with the construction of the new enclosures and we hope the works will end soon. J.A.C.K. is trying to get extra funds in order to finish everything as the kind donation we’ve received from the Sweden Chimpanzee Trust isn’t enough. Prices have increased so much in the last few weeks and because the DRC doesn’t produce any steel nor cement, everything has to be imported either from Zambia or from South Africa…

It has rained already a few times, which is good as, remember, I’ve told you this year the heat was unbearable!

Last week, our friend “Francky” (the one who has come from France to build the night facilities of the chimps)  got terribly sick. He actually had his first malaria and was completely down. So, the building programme had to be slowed down for a while.

We also have improved the playground of the main enclosure sothat our little friends can increase their strength, devellop their muscles.

It took us quite some time to fix a few things

but the chimps apparently fully enjoy their new playground.

Especially Shasa who seems the be “flying” from one game to another as her arms  and legs are soooo long !!!

As for Tongo and Jane, they are doing great. Both are finishing their treatments today and new samples will be taken to check everything. I really cross my fingers and will keep you posted !!!

Roxane — I just realized, looking at the donor list, that our donations are not getting through…it may be because my husband’s wallet was stolen and even though we updated all of our credit card information, it appears that there is still a glitch…just didn’t want you to think we forgot about you!!!

Love the photos, so glad they are enjoying their new play equipment!

Wow, you’ve really been busy! The new playground equipment looks like a ton of fun for the chimps. I’m also very glad to learn that Tongo and Jane are doing well.

I am worried about all the babies drinking the milk -
I hope it is not the tainted milk -
I believe some gorilla’s somewhere got that milk -
I guess the milk is from another source -
I will send a donation — gosh what great equipment -
and ‘THEY DO LOOK BUSY’ — I know - I know —
you guys are “busy” too! LOL

Dear Wanda and others,
please, don’t worry about the milk nor the food that is being given to the orphans of J.A.C.K. I buy everything myself and never take things imported from China. I check every brand myself and I’m very strict on each purchase as I want the best quality for the little ones…so, please, don’t worry about this.. Thanks a lot to all of you who help with donations… we really need financial support to provide all the best to these little ones

Am so glad Jane and Tongo are doing better. It looks as if they absolutely love the new playground additions. I hope Franck is feeling much better. The enclosures are looking great. Best to all of you and thanks for the wonderful work you do!
